283rd Movie Review: Prometheus

283rd Movie Review: Prometheus

Arguably one of the best films of 2012

If not for The Avengers, this would’ve been a no-brainer as my current #1 film of the 2012! It has a tinge of Avatar and Inception in terms of creativity, visual brilliance and intelligence. I loved the film because contrary to what I expected, it never resorted to cheap scares to make the scenes intense. The very concept of not knowing anything to the very end was enough already, and I commend the way Ridley Scott brought the film from start to finish.

The film’s high budget was clearly put into good use in the hands of Scott, who paid very close attention to detail, as evidenced by the crisp visual effects seen above. I also enjoyed the way they introduced the different technologies found in the film. One invention in particular, was David, a cyborg played by Michael Fassbender. Ironically, he’s the one who I felt was the most human among of the cast (Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace) when it came to displaying emotion. Fassbender‘s performance is one to beat this year.

Intense, action-packed and breathtaking, Prometheus is definitely one of my favorite films of the year. Although the film didn’t answer all of my questions, my curiosity was piqued well enough to make me want to catch the sequels (Alien); which according to most critics, was even better.
