Movie Review #292: Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Surprisingly entertaining

Wimpy Kid started out rough, especially with the way they introduced the cast. However, the simplicity of the film and the cute animations really got me into the story, and eventually, the people involved in it.  While I liked Zachary Gordon’s character, the way he was presented made it seem as if they wanted moviegoers to not root for him. And this lack of character development was the primary factor which really bugged down the whole movie (I hope they gave Chloe Moretz more airtime). The film’s resolution also took a long while. And as a result, the ending became ineffective. But despite the major flaws, I still found myself enjoying it, so I’ll probably save some time to catch the sequel.
