Movie Re-review: The Dark Knight (2008) [12 Reviews Before X-Mas #2]

A benchmark for excellence

Will there ever be a superhero movie in the future that can match TDK? With Heath Ledger’s performance, I don’t think there will be, at least for the next couple of decades. Nothing went wrong in this film. Nothing. And while perfection may have cost Ledger’s life, I think people will look back and see how much dedication he has put to this film and appreciate him much more. In fact, Batman (Christian Bale) himself was overshadowed by the tricks and magic of the Joker. It also helps that your director is Christopher Nolan and you have a fantastic screenplay by the Nolans and David Goyer. The Dark Knight is one of the best films I’ve EVER seen. And what I hate the most is that it took another showing for me to realize it.

GRADE: A
