Mini-Review: Europa Report

A decent effort in creating a realistic space thriller

I enjoyed my viewing of Europa Report for what it is: an ambitious attempt to capture what could occur if humans were to travel in deep space. Its use of found footage cinematography adds in to the realism aspect that is needed for the film to work. But while they had that dialled in, the film in general doesn’t incite much reaction. While I admit some reveals were intriguing, it cannot sustain the momentum leading to the next one. So you shouldn’t expect an amazing, thought-provoking space thriller, but rather a reasonably decent and interesting one. Other than that I have nothing else to say except that had they slightly increased the budget it would’ve certainly improved the film considerably.
